Financial Outsourcing Solutions Donates Meals to Local Food Banks to Provide Aid During COVID-19 Crisis

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
― Fred Rogers

Over the past several weeks, our collective attention has been riveted to the relentless and sometimes unnerving or, yes, scary news cycle filled with countless clips about hospitalization updates, social distancing guidelines, masks, school closures, jobless claims, and dire medical equipment needs.  But, as we’ve started to get our bearings in the midst of this crisis, what is starting to emerge – and what we may remember the most from this time – are the stories of “the helpers.” The helpers, who hold steadfast and continue to work every day because they know the need is too great and will become even greater as time goes on.  The helpers, who keep their doors open in order to make sure basic human needs are met and human dignity remains.  The helpers, who are giving everything they can today even though they know this will make it harder to give tomorrow.

The frantic rush to build a new normal with a six-foot radius built around it led many people to wonder how they would keep themselves and their families safe, how they would order groceries, and how they would manage to work remotely and teach their children the new algebra at the same time – these are the “lucky” few.  For the lucky few, it is important to remember there are so many more, who lay awake worrying about how to pay for any food due to sudden job loss or who, with the recent school closures, don’t know when their children will have a hot meal or any meal at all.  For so many, it has become time to look for the helpers.  For the lucky few, it is time to support and become the helpers.

On April 10th, our Financial Outsourcing Solutions team members saw the opportunity to support helpers in our community by donating $3,000 collectively to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, and Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank of Berks County.  According to the food banks, this donation will immediately help provide 18,000 meals to our communities, including children and senior citizens for whom meal services may have been abruptly interrupted due to the present crisis.  Our team members humbly recognized that those in a position to help can and must now help in every way possible.  If your team is interested in joining our efforts, please consider donating to any food bank in your community.  Together we can ensure the help continues to be found!
